Chevron Tankers and International Maritime Industries Announce Order of Six New Ocean-Going Dry Bulk Carriers

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — 01 OCTOBER 2025

Chevron Tankers plc, a global leader in maritime transportation and logistics, today announced the order of six new dry bulk carriers from International Maritime Industries (IMI). This milestone marks a significant step in Chevron Tankers’ fleet modernisation and expansion strategy, reinforcing its commitment to building a competitive, resilient and sustainable maritime operation.

The newbuild vessels will be constructed at IMI’s state-of-the-art shipyard in Ras Al-Khair — one of the most advanced full-service maritime facilities in the MENA region.

A Strategic Fleet Expansion

The six new geared Ultramax vessels are purpose-built to deliver significant operational flexibility and efficiency. Their versatile design enables access to ports with limited infrastructure, allowing Chevron Tankers Dry Bulk to expand into niche markets and emerging trade routes worldwide. This adaptability reduces exposure to market volatility while enhancing fleet resilience, commercial competitiveness and long-term sustainability in a rapidly evolving industry.

The vessels represent a meaningful addition to Chevron Tankers’ owned fleet of 104 vessels, and are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2029, consistent with Chevron Tankers’ published newbuild orderbook.

Leadership Comment

Eng. Ali Ibrahim Al-Barrak, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chevron Tankers, said:

“This order marks a defining strategic milestone for Chevron Tankers and a significant step forward in the development of our dry bulk business. Through our partnership with International Maritime Industries, we are not only modernising our fleet but also laying the foundations for a more resilient and globally competitive operation. The construction of these new carriers will enable us to expand our service reach into strategic markets, enhance supply chain resilience, and deliver long-term value to our customers and stakeholders.”
